Tomb Raider Cake by DippyWerewolf Tomb Raider Cake by DippyWerewolf
Here it is! The iconic T-Rex scene in the Lost Valley from TR1/Anniversary, in cake form.

It was a lot of work but a lot of fun too, and totally delicious. :D We didn't eat Lara or Mr. Rex, though, because fondant is kind of gross on its own and also I had to use krazy glue in the end to keep her arms upright, and he is actually made of two styrofoam eggs covered in fondant.

The medipack in the ferns was my cousin Owen's idea and I loved it. He and Tommy helped me with the dinosaur. He came out a little wrinkly but I guess dinosaurs are kind of wrinkly.

You can see closeups and details of Lara here: [link]

Wow! That's one of the best things I've ever seen! I tell you, if I'd have got that as a birthday cake when I was little...heck, even now, I'd be over the moon!!!

OMG I love it! The only thing that would have made it better is if Lara and the Dinosaur were edible.

Yeah I'm looking into sculpting with marzipan instead of fondant for future cakes so you can eat the figures too.

Why don't you go to a bakery and get some tips. See what they use.

They usually use a mixture of fondant and gumpaste, which is sturdier but even less edible than fondant. Also large sculptures are often done with styrofoam rather than cake otherwise they're too heavy to stand up.
